Two Ansys Zemax technologies were awarded the Laser Focus World Innovators Award for 2022. The OpticStudio® Structural, Thermal, Analysis and Results (STAR) Module is a Silver Award winner, and OpticsBuilder™ won in the Bronze Award category. This is the second major industry award for STAR this year, having previously won the 2022 Prism Award for Software, awarded by Photonics Media and SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics.
STAR technology puts powerful structural, thermal, and optical performance (STOP) analysis within reach of everyday optical engineering workflows. Starting with the recent Ansys 2022 R2 release, STAR capabilities are available with a licensed version of Ansys Zemax OpticStudio Enterprise Edition.
"We're honored that STAR has been recognized for its innovation, and we're proud to accept this award," says Ansys Senior Product Manager Esteban Carbajal. "This has culminated from the commitment that Ansys has for advancing technology to serve our customers now and in the future. Many thanks to the Laser Focus World Awards Committee for this recognition."
OpticsBuilder enables more effective, streamlined collaboration across optical and optomechanical design teams, and shortens the time to build complex optically enabled products by providing the tools needed to build, analyze, and share their work. The Ansys 2022 R2 release packages these capabilities as Ansys Zemax OpticsBuilder.
“Thank you to Laser Focus World for recognizing Ansys Zemax OpticsBuilder as an innovative tool that can significantly improve methods, approaches, and workflows throughout the industry," says Lisa Clauson, senior product manager for OpticsBuilder.
The LFW Innovators Award recognizes products, projects, and applications that stand out as innovative applications of laser and photonics systems. Entries are judged on criteria that include collaboration, community impact, and well-defined marketplace need.
"The winning products Ansys submitted for consideration are great examples of the type of innovation that continues to catapult the photonics industry into the future — empowering new applications and helping photonics-based technologies make gains in new industries," says Peter Fretty, LFW editor-in-chief,
