Meet Tomi Akintaju, a dynamic sales engineer whose passion and strong work ethic are matched only by his dedication to providing unrivaled experiences for his customers. With more than a year at Ansys under his belt, Tomi started as an account representative, where he has been instrumental in helping customers in the semiconductor and high-tech market reduce time to market, mitigate risks, increase quality, and cut costs.
But Tomi’s impact doesn’t stop there. As a valued member of the team, he goes above and beyond, actively supporting key initiatives like science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and the Association for Black & Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE) while excelling in his role. Tomi isn’t just a colleague; he’s a driving force behind success, both at the company and beyond.
We talked to Tomi to find out more about his interest in engineering and why it’s important for everyone to be passionate about their dreams. Here is what he had to say.
My career journey started when I was young. I had a passion for technology, a curiosity for how things worked, and a lot of uncles who were engineers. Fast-forward a number of years, and I joined Ansys to have the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation, work in numerous engineering disciplines with a range of applications, and interact with different people on a daily basis.
I’ve always had a fascination with technology. Growing up, I remember the joy of being around the latest gadgets brought to me. I was fortunate enough to know what I wanted to do from an early age, and following my degree in electronics, working in technology was my next goal.
My fitness journey. Pride comes from the dedication it takes to “stick with it” even when times feel rough. I’m excited about all the opportunities that my drive, discipline, and “thirst” for self-improvement have brought me and will bring me in the future.
There isn’t one metric or method for success — everyone achieves success in different ways. The most important thing is to set clear goals for yourself and make sure you reflect regularly, give yourself praise where you deserve it, and encourage yourself when you identify areas where things are not going so well.
Continue to work hard. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Test yourself in new environments. And most importantly, do something that makes you happy!
