ANSYS BLOG
October 5, 2020
Despite Leonardo da Vinci’s accomplishments and the many who followed in his footsteps to combine engineering and art, engineers still get a bad rap for valuing function rather than form. At Ansys, we see the beauty in a well-crafted simulation, so we want to share your simulations with the world in our inaugural Art of Simulation competition.
As Ansys celebrates 50 years of engineering simulation, we are creating a space to showcase the work of our talented customers and students. Simulation is one of the most powerful tools available to engineers, allowing you to visualize product performance without creating time-consuming and costly physical prototypes. It’s also valuable to stakeholders who aren’t engineers.
The old adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” doesn’t begin to describe the value of an animated, high-fidelity simulation of phenomena that sometimes cannot be seen in any other way.
Simulation allows globally distributed teams to see and solve problems before a product is manufactured. Especially now, with so many people working remotely, the need for digital collaboration has never been greater.
Simulation has expanded beyond the engineering department. It has become a useful tool for executives to visualize a product challenge. It enables sales and marketing teams to share what’s next before a physical product exists. And it allows operations to benefit from the marriage of physical and virtual products via the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and digital twins.
There’s still time to present your innovative artistry in the Ansys Art of Simulation Image Competition 2020. We want to see how your art and talent is changing the world of simulation with Ansys simulation solutions. Once your high-quality image is submitted, please provide a short description of your submission along with its implementation.
Choose from 16 of the categories below and use a qualified Ansys software product to create your visual masterpiece.
Send us your work by Nov. 6, 2020 at 5 p.m. EDT. Ansys will select their top 10 submissions from each category to move onto the semifinals, where you will get your chance to vote for the No. 1 entries from each of the different categories starting Nov. 23. Sixteen winners (one for each category) will be determined by Dec. 18, 2020. Winners will receive a trophy, digital badge and bragging rights as we recognize and promote their achievements. We’re excited to see your submissions!
