Exploring Property Processing Relationships in Ansys Granta EduPack
The properties of materials depend on the way they have been processed. Experience suggests that learning is better achieved by discovery for oneself than by passive listening. The Process-Property Profiles inside the Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) database of Ansys Granta EduPack is a do-it-yourself kit that allows students to explore how the processes it contains change the properties of selected metals, polymers and ceramics through various processing techniques such as work hardening, foaming, and additive manufacturing. The sections of this paper step through this list giving background, details, an illustration of a chart made with the set and suggestions for other informative charts that can be made with it.
