PITTSBURGH, Nov. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ansys (NASDAQ: ANSS) is strengthening its executive team and adding best-in-class enterprise sales capabilities by appointing industry veteran Rick Mahoney as its vice president of worldwide sales and customer excellence.
Industry megatrends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), additive manufacturing and machine learning are reshaping the product landscape and creating unprecedented opportunities for developing the devices of tomorrow. Engineering simulation enables engineers to master the complexity inherent in these trends and bring smarter and greener products to market.
Ansys is bringing industry veteran Mahoney on board to help organizations take advantage of these opportunities. With simulation becoming an increasingly critical engineering capability and companies continuing to standardize on one platform, Mahoney brings deep expertise in selling enterprise-wide product development solutions to multinational companies. His breadth of experience will help continue to develop Ansys' go-to-market strategies across all customer segments.
Mahoney was most recently senior vice president of design enablement and international sales at GlobalFoundries, where he led a global engineering team and was responsible for multiple billions of dollars in international sales. Prior to that, he had a long career at Cadence Design Systems, starting as a software developer and architect then eventually advancing to senior vice president of worldwide field operations with responsibility for worldwide sales, field application engineering, customer support and sales operations. While there, he redesigned the major account sales organization and increased worldwide revenue by double digits year over year.
"Ansys is perfectly positioned to help our customers take advantage of trends like IoT and Industry 4.0, which are reshaping product development, manufacturing and operations," said Ajei Gopal, Ansys president and chief operating officer. "Rick brings the right combination of industry knowledge and demonstrated success to help our customers innovate faster and more efficiently. He can both structure large win-win relationships as well as drive go to market at scale."
"I've always admired Ansys for its focus on customer success and on producing the industry's best engineering simulation products," Mahoney said. "It's a passion I share as well, and I am thrilled to join the executive team in Pittsburgh so I can be part of an organization that helps companies transform the way they bring products to market."
Rick Mahoney is relocating to Ansys global headquarters in Pittsburgh and will start his new role on December 12.
