Deliver Foundry-Compatible Custom Designs with Ansys’ New Process-Enabled Photonic Component Design Flow
Photonic integrated circuits are rapidly advancing in applications, such as datacom, RF, sensing, AR/VR, automotive and medical. Photonic/electronic process design kits (PDKs) are key to commercializing silicon photonics for these applications. Ansys’ most recent innovation for PDK-driven methodologies is the process-enabled custom design flow that empowers designers to quickly augment existing PDKs with custom components that adhere to foundry specifications. Within this flow, setting up simulations of foundry-compatible components in Ansys Lumerical DEVICE Suite is more efficient and reliable as designers can be confident their simulations are consistent with the foundry process. In collaboration with Ansys, leading silicon photonics foundries support the new flow and include the required process file in their PDKs.
Whether you are a PDK designer or an end-product PIC designer, this webinar will provide you with a working knowledge of the process-enabled custom design flow and the required tools. The webinar begins with motivation and an overview for the flow, followed by a demonstration on creating and using foundry process files with the improved Layer Builder available in the DEVICE Suite. The webinar concludes with a discussion of the existing foundry support for the flow.
