Battery Webinar Series Part 2 – Thermal Management of Battery Modules/Pack
Following the growing concerns over petroleum supplies and air pollution, electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are being developed and refined as cost-effective and reliable alternatives to conventional gasoline and diesel engines. The race is underway to design electric batteries to power this new class of vehicles. A key concern in developing lithium-ion battery packs for EVs is thermal management. You must strictly maintain the cell's temperature, and simulation can analyze the temperature inside the battery pack configuration.
Ansys Fluent provides the capability to perform battery thermal analysis. This enables the designer to simulate different battery electrochemistry models, analyze temperature variations inside battery packs, and optimize their cooling systems.
We'll share how Ansys Fluent helps designers perform battery thermal management efficiently to improve battery life and reliability significantly.
What You Will Learn
- See how the CFD-based multiscale, multidimensional module in Ansys Fluent quantifies the 3-D thermal and electrical performance of batteries and thermal abuse scenarios
- Explore the linear and time-invariance (LTI) and singular value decomposition (SVD) ROM for constructing thermal reduced-order models (ROMs), providing both average and field-level temperature data at a module level
