Overview
Since 2019, optical design software has introduced significant updates, including the Ray Aiming Wizard, design templates database, advanced tolerance tools, and multiphysics capabilities. Enhancements like true freeform surfaces, non-sequential ray tracing, and support for off-axis mirrors and volume holograms improve functionality. New export options to the Speos lens system and integration with Parasolid CAD libraries enhance usability and improve 3D layout tools and the Star module.
The 2024 R2 release of Ansys Zemax Optic Studio improves integration with enhanced export to SPEOS and adds stress birefringence support in the STAR tool, now compliant with ISO 10110. New tolerance operands for off-axis apertures and rotationally symmetric irregularities enhance design accuracy. Performance upgrades include:
- FFT MTF multithreading
- Faster STOP analysis with GRINs
- A composite surface equivalent for non-sequential design
