Ansys 2020 R2: Laser Simulation with Ansys Lumerical
Based on the travelling wave laser model (TWLM) in the INTERCONNECT design environment, devices designed with Lumerical account for electronic, optical and thermal effects that are critical for the accurate characterization of laser performance. Ansys provides all the necessary tools to design lasers for popular applications including datacom, biosensing, lidar and more.
In the webinar, we will provide an overview of Lumerical’s laser library with those features related to TWLM and MQW solvers highlighted. We will discuss many of the new features available with the recent 2020 R2 release, including:
- Gain modeling for InP/InGaAsP and GaAs/InGaAs technologies
- Complex grating structures for DFB models
- Thermal transport for characterization with self-heating effects
Using these features, we will illustrate a complete parameter extraction workflow for an active MQW waveguide that can then be incorporated into a sophisticated compact model for a wide variety of gain and laser designs.
