Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI/EMC)

Minimizing electromagnetic interference with simulation delivers high-performance, compliant and safe electronics systems, down to the microchip level.

ANSYS APPLICATIONS

Performance, Safety and Compliance

Electronic systems are often safety or mission critical. They form the backbone of global technology disruptions, from 5G-connected devices to autonomous vehicles and the Internet of Things. As performance requirements increase and electronics proliferate, the risk of interference leading to degraded performance, unintended consequences—or even failure—rises dramatically. With simulation, EMI/EMC issues can be resolved in advance, with reduced physical testing to deliver high-performance, safe and compliant designs.

Workflows Simulate Any Electromagnetic Situation

EMI/EMC simulation

PCB and Component Design

EMC compliance can be simulated with Ansys’ near/far field EMI, parasitic extraction and circuit simulation capabilities.

Cable Harness Design

With a streamlined cable simulation workflow that's able to handle complex structures and cable routing, placement can be determined with appropriate shielding to minimize cross talk, radiation and susceptibility

Antenna Design and Placement

With full wave electromagnetic field solvers and an electromagnetic interference toolkit, installed antenna radiation patterns can be determined for optimal placement to minimize co-site interference.

System Integration

Cable and circuit simulations – including shooting and bouncing ray plus techniques and full wave field electromagnetic solvers - enable the performance of electronic subsystems to be examined in electrically large environments.
