Industry veteran brings decades of technology experience to engineering simulation leader
PITTSBURGH, October 11, 2018 – Ansys (NASDAQ: ANSS) announced today that industry veteran Prith Banerjee is joining the executive team as its chief technology officer (CTO). Banerjee will lead the evolution of Ansys’ technology and will champion the company’s next phase of innovation and growth.
“Organizations around the world rely on Ansys technology to solve their toughest product challenges,” said Ajei Gopal, Ansys president and CEO. “Prith brings a deep technological understanding, broad-based research and engineering expertise as well as experience in driving transformation for our customers. His track record speaks for itself – and we’re excited to have him take a leadership position at Ansys.”
Banerjee brings a unique combination of experience to Ansys – from serving in academia and industry, to leading research labs and large engineering organizations, to founding two startups. He has driven transformational change at large enterprises as the executive vice president and CTO of both Schneider Electric and ABB. Banerjee’s extensive research experience includes leadership positions at Accenture Technology Labs and HP Labs. His academic career includes the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he was dean of College of Engineering. During that time, he founded two electronic design automation solution developers, AccelChip and BINACHIP Inc.
“I’ve seen firsthand how technology – particularly engineering simulation – can help companies innovate,” Banerjee said. “I’m looking forward to helping Ansys continue its track record of solving some of the most challenging product development challenges for our customers.”
