Ansys welcomed customers, partners, and other technology enthusiasts to Ottawa, Ontario, on May 30 for the seventh annual Simulation World Canada Innovation Conference.
Attendees learned about the power of simulation through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and expert-led technical sessions, said Hao Hu, Ansys Canada sales leader.
Rafiq Somani, area vice president of sales, welcomed our partners to the conference by highlighting Canada’s potential to become a global leader in product development and innovation. He emphasized Ansys’ ambition to make this event an even more premier innovation conference in Canada, underscoring our ongoing commitment to Canadian customers.
“Ansys will focus on building a comprehensive ecosystem involving academia, suppliers, and startups,” he said.
We heard from remarkable keynote speakers, including Jenna Sudds, Canadian minister of families, children, and social development, who welcomed attendees and shared her inspiring vision for the future of Ottawa. Additionally, Sonya Shorey, president and CEO of Invest Ottawa, delivered an uplifting message.
“We’re reaching for the stars,” she said, “transforming Ottawa into a global leader in smart mobility, connectivity, and autonomous technologies.”
Shorey also highlighted Ansys’ partnership with Area X.O, a research and development facility, which benefits customers by saving time and money through simulation.
Steve Bleymaier, chief technology officer of aerospace and defense at Ansys, concluded the keynote sessions by stressing the imperative for simulation in all industries. He discussed Ansys’ five pillars of innovation — numerics, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud and experience, and digital engineering — which enable us to drive customers’ greatest innovations while solving their toughest challenges.
We celebrated the second annual Women in Technology panel, featuring Laila Salman, principal technical specialist at Ansys; Renee DeMay, chief of staff at Ansys; and Shorey. Somani, the moderator, guided the group through discussions on the importance of mentorship, building connections while maintaining professional boundaries, and the panelists' insights on how organizations can become more inclusive and promote female equality in the workplace.
The Simulation World Canada Innovation Conference provided a full day of invaluable opportunities for customers and partners of Ansys to network, share insights, and forge meaningful connections. The Ansys team cannot wait to see everyone again in 2025.
