Overview

Ansys LS-DYNA now supports battery modelling, allowing for the simulation of battery cells under both standard operating conditions and abusive scenarios, where damage and internal short circuits may occur. With Ansys Mechanical 2025 R1, you can easily define the criteria for thermal abuse and internal shorts in battery cells. The battery cell is defined by parameters for a distributed Randles circuit using the Batmac model. Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization (HPPC), a testing method for assessing the performance of individual cells, is now included in the Engineering Data for Randles circuits of zero, first, second, and third order. Additionally, the same battery electric potentials can be linked together using the isopotential connection in Ansys Workbench LS-DYNA 2025 R1.
