How STMicroelectronics leverages simulation to build efficient EV traction inverters

In the fast-growing market of electric vehicles, power modules, used as switching elements for the main traction inverter feeding the electrical motor, play a key role.

The more advanced EV applications managed by power modules impose the development of new modeling strategies and techniques to assess the power modules’ electro-thermal behavior at the early design stage.

In this webinar, we’ll explore an innovative modeling methodology, developed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and SPICE circuit simulations, called “virtual prototyping,” which helps assess all aspects impacting the performance, robustness, and reliability of the final application.

What You Will Learn

  • Learn about power modules for EV/HEV applications, including essential knowledge, design challenges, and the importance of simulation
  • See modeling/virtual prototyping of power modules using Ansys simulation
  • Watch the presentation of ST’s power modules designed for electric vehicles
