Course Overview

If you have completed the Ansys Mechanical Getting Started training and have reached a point where you want to go to the next level, then the Ansys Mechanical Scripting course will help you become more productive, generate more accurate simulations, and create your own workflows by customizing the Ansys Mechanical interface.

Prerequisites

  • Ansys Mechanical Getting Started.

  • A basic knowledge of Python programming is recommended but not required.

Teaching Method

Lectures and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use the Mechanical Console to access Ansys Mechanical’s API

  • Automate the creation of standard tree objects in Ansys Mechanical / Meshing

  • Use scripting to change solver settings, explore the geometry and mesh programmatically, and export results.

  • Automate the creation of an Ansys Mechanical model from start to finish.

Agenda

This course is made of five modules. Each module should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Each module contains both lecture and short exercises. 

Modules
  • Module 1: Introduction - Learn how to use the console. 
  • Module 2: Preprocessing - Automatically create loads and explore the mesh and geometry. 
  • Module 3: Solve settings and Buttons - Create buttons in Mechanical’s tool bar, programmatically manage the solver settings. 
  • Module 4: Postprocessing - Create results object and extract data 
  • Module 5: Wrap up - Set up, solve and extract the results from a model without using Mechanical’s GUI.
