Ansys Mechanical Gasket Analysis (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

Gaskets are essential elements of many structural assemblies and particularly of engines. Gaskets act as sealing elements between structural components, are usually very thin, and are made of various materials, including steel, rubber, and composites. The gasket analysis options in Ansys Mechanical offer a convenient and efficient way to include gaskets in your analysis model and to incorporate their often complex nonlinear stiffness behavior.

Prerequisites

  • Completion of Fundamental Topics in Nonlinear Structural Analysis is required.
  • Completion of Fundamental Topics in Nonlinear Contact is recommended.

Teaching Method

Lectures and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge. A training certificate is provided to all attendees who complete the course.

Learning Outcomes

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the specialized bodies and elements used for gasket modeling.
  • Understand the techniques for meshing and postprocessing gasket bodies.
  • Use the Engineering Data application to create detailed nonlinear gasket stiffness models.
  • Describe the two general approaches to modeling gasket bodies.
