Ansys Lumerical CHARGE
Getting Started (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

This course introduces Lumerical CHARGE, a physics-based charge transport solver for semiconductor devices. It is primarily intended for beginner to intermediate users, with a focus on providing practical examples to common tasks. You will learn the basic solver physics and how to use various simulation objects in a typical workflow - simulation setup, running simulations, and post-processing and visualizing results.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of solid-state devices and electrical charge transport physics.

Teaching Method

Lectures and demos. A major emphasis is placed on balanced mix of basic theoretical knowledge and helpful practical examples that will allow new users to quickly become proficient and productive with CHARGE.

Learning Outcome

The main goal of this course is to provide a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and helpful practical examples that will allow new users to quickly become proficient and productive with CHARGE. By the end of this course, you should:

  • Have a basic understanding of the charge transport solver physics.
  • Be familiar with the finite-element mesh and IDE environment.
  • Be knowledgeable about various application area that the CHARGE can address.
  • Know the basic workflow – Materials setup, simulation objects setup, running and analyzing simulations.
  • Understand how to utilize the geometry features to correctly and efficiently set up the simulation.
  • Understand various solver modes – steady-state, transient, small-signal AC.
