Course Overview
Stirred tank mixing is a process used across many industries, including the pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical industries, chemical processing, food processing, oil and gas, and mineral processing. Understanding mixing tank performance and behavior is important for design, scale-up, optimization and troubleshooting. Simulation can provide valuable insight in these areas, including:
- Understanding mixing characteristics: flow visualization, residence and blend time.
- Prediction of shear rate, shear history and mass transfer rates.
- Prediction of gas hold up.
The starting point for a mixing tank flow calculation is a three-dimensional CAD model of the mixing tank. This can done easily using Ansys SpaceClaim using simple sketch, pull, move and pattern operations.
Prerequisites
- Completion of Ansys Fluent Getting Started is recommended.
Teaching Method
This is a self-paced course that will teach you how to create a CAD model of a basic mixing tank in Ansys SpaceClaim and prepare the model for use in an Ansys Fluent mixing tank simulation.
