Ansys Q3D for Electromagnetic Compatibility Getting Started

Course Overview

The Ansys Q3D for Electromagnetic Compatibility Getting Started course introduces Q3D with lectures on workflow and solution setup.  This course does not include matrix reduction, which can be found in the Q3D for Low Frequency Power Getting Started course.  There are two workshops.  The first one practices basic Q3D simulation setup, including assignment of terminals and nets.  The simulation results are DC and AC inductance. The second workshop, using the same circular connector example, adds Q2D analysis to represent a length of cable and Nexxim transient circuit simulation.

Prerequisites

  • Familiarity with the Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with power electronics quantities like inductance.

Teaching Method

Lecture slide files and hands-on simulation workshops connect technical concepts with practical skill in using Q3D.  A training certificate is issued on completion of the course.

Learning Outcome

Following the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Know how to set up a basic Q3D simulation on a circular connector.
  • Know how to set up a Q2D analysis.
  • Know how to connect the Q3D connector model and Q2D cable model in circuit simulation.
