Course Overview
The HFSS Getting Started course introduces the Ansys Electronic Desktop and familiarizes brand new HFSS users with the graphical user interface (GUI) and all of the steps in the HFSS workflow: geometry construction, boundaries and simulation space, wave and lumped ports, solution setup, frequency sweep, and post processing. The course is hands-on, with about 60% of the time dedicated to simulation workshops and 40% dedicated to learning content and question and answer. The HFSS Getting Started course also introduces high performance computing and parameterized sweeps and optimization in the HFSS Optimetrics package. The focus of the course is RF and microwave, including filter, microstrip and waveguide structures. Post processing focuses on S-parameter plots and field overlays on geometry.
Prerequisites
- A technical education and/or background in high frequency electromagnetics is recommended but having an engineering degree is not required.
- Familiarity with transmission lines, waveguides, and scattering parameters (S-parameters)
Teaching Method
Lectures and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge.
