SysML Behaviors for Mission Decision

Systems Modeling Language (SysML) is an industry standard for defining system architectures. SysML-based architectural designs can also be used to model entire missions. These designs must be validated to ensure that they accurately reflect the complexity of the mission and its real-world operating environment, and that mission objectives are met. An effective way to accomplish this is to execute the SysML models of a system in a full physics-based simulation of its operating environment. In addition, SysML behavior models in a simulation environment can be used to establish and evaluate correlations between transitions in SysML workflows and those same events within realistic simulations. By predicting outcomes, these capabilities can be used to provide effective decision support for entire missions.
