Ansys EMA3D Cable vs. Ansys EMA3D Charge for Electronics and Automotive Applications

The Ansys EMA3D Charge and Cable solvers are specific tools that provide complementary capabilities for modeling and simulation of hazardous electrical discharges. Learn the EMA3D Cable and EMA3D Charge applications and how each solver is used for Aerospace and Defense applications. Hear from a subject matter expert with decades of experience at a major contractor speak about the benefits of modeling for requirements development and validation of complex vehicles and electronics units. See examples of the tools being used for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) certification, simulating electromagnetic environmental effects (E3), and analyzing space environmental effects (SEE).

What you will learn

  • When and how to use EMA3D Cable and EMA3D Charge Software during the life cycle of your program
  • Plan for the effort required to use these simulation tools successfully
  • What to do differently to get the most from these tools

Who should attend

  • Electronics system designers, including automotive electronics design engineers
  • Existing users of EMA3D Cable and Charge solvers

Speakers:

Kevin Druis Merenda

Kevin-Druis Merenda is a staff scientist at Electro Magnetic Applications, Inc (EMA), and is the Product Manager for EMA3D® Charge. He joined EMA in 2020 to apply his background in atmospheric electricity and elementary particle physics to impactful industry projects. With involvement in extensive physics experiments such as the NA62 and LHCB experiments at CERN, or the Pierre Auger Cosmic-Ray Observatory, in Argentina, he knows that every bit of efficiency is needed to achieve the imposed deadlines. His knowledge of numerical methods, his approach to problem diagnostics, and his data analysis skills are directly applicable to consulting projects involving EMA3D® Cable and EMA3D® Charge, the software products developed by EMA.

Tim McDonald

Tim McDonald is President and Co-owner at Electro Magnetic Applications, Inc. (EMA). EMA is a leading developer of technologies for engineering simulation. EMA's engineering specialty is applied electromagnetics. In this domain, EMA provides software and services to promote our customers' products' design, certification, and performance. Tim currently serves as product manager for EMA3D® Cable. He supports EMA3D® users around the world from multiple industries. Tim holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and Applied Math from Columbia University in New York. Tim previously led consulting engagements for NASA and DoD major primes on specialty engineering of critical systems, developing novel solutions to electromagnetic compatibility problems, and executing significant programs that require verification of electromagnetic environmental effects.
