About this Webinar

This capstone webinar of the series shows how the solver technologies described in the previous webinars integrated into the Ansys platform and multi-physics workflows. See how the EMA3D Python Application Programming Interface (API), or pyEMA3D, allows for multi-tool workflows and optimized product designs to leverage Ansys ModelCenter. An EMA3D and Ansys STK workflow together support spacecraft design. Ansys Discovery and EMA3D in automobile and electronics designs use materials information from Ansys Granta. Ansys optiSLang’s parametric design optimization is used in conjunction with EMA3D cable simulations. Finally, see the advanced multi-physics through the co-simulation of Ansys EMA3D and Ansys Fluent.

What You Will Learn

  • Observe the EMA3D Automated Workflows that enable full-system simulation with automatic material assignment from Ansys Granta
  • Learn about the EMA3D API and interoperability features to allow for efficient use with Ansys optiSLang, Ansys ModelCenter, or a user Python script (pyEMA3D).
  • Watch how EMA3D Charge co-simulates with Ansys Fluent using Ansys System Coupling 2.0 to address significant multi-physics problems of interest.
  • See the direct API integration that allows users to pull in the space environment from a given mission profile from Ansys STK and import the radiation sources directly into EMA3D Charge with a click of a button

Tim Mcdonald Headshot

Tim McDonald is the President of EMA. EMA is a leading developer of technologies for engineering simulation. EMA’s engineering specialty is in applied electromagnetics. In this domain, EMA provides software and services to promote the design, certification, and performance of our customers’ products. Dr. McDonald supports EMA3D® users around the world from multiple industries. Dr. McDonald previously led consulting engagements for NASA and DoD major primes about specialty engineering of critical systems, development of novel solutions to electromagnetic compatibility problems, and the execution of major programs that require verification of electromagnetic environmental effects. Dr. McDonald holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and Applied Math from Columbia University in the City of New York.

kevin-druis.jpg

Kevin-Druis Merenda is a Staff Scientist at Electro Magnetic Applications, Inc (EMA), where he is the Product Manager for EMA3D® Charge. He joined EMA in 2020 to apply his atmospheric electricity and elementary particle physics background to impactful industry projects. Kevin has participated in extensive physics experiments such as the NA62 and LHCB experiments at CERN, and the Pierre Auger Cosmic-Ray Observatory, in Argentina. Kevin has presented at conferences and published journal articles studying lightning-induced transient luminous events. His knowledge of numerical methods, approach to problem diagnostics, and data analysis skills are directly applicable to consulting projects involving EMA3D® Cable and EMA3D® Charge, the software products developed by EMA.
