Application Brief

High-Fidelity ROM of Electric Machine for Motor Drive Application

Electric machines are highly nonlinear systems due to nonlinear material properties and structural spatial harmonics. To develop high-performance motor drives, it is critical to adopt high-fidelity electric machine models in the control circuit. However, the direct coupling between a finite element model and the control circuit leads to slow simulation speed.

To keep the fidelity of the finite element model without sacrificing the simulation speed, a Reduced Order Model (ROM) based on the finite element result can be used in the control circuit.
