Our Commitment, Our Values, Our Actions

When a company has been growing for more than 50 years, it naturally gains a reputation. Ansys is proud of the great reputation we have in the marketplace, and of the awards we’ve won for our work environment and corporate responsibility. However, to help solve the world’s grand challenges, we cannot rest on our accolades. As Socrates is credited with saying: “The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.” In other words “if you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk.”

One of our latest endeavors along those lines is refreshing our mission statement and values. This is where we “talk the talk” to let everyone know who we are.

Those six words — “powering innovation that drives human advancement” — are both focused and far-reaching, much like our simulation solutions and services that can help you zero in on a specific problem while enabling you to discover potential you didn’t know existed.

Be Courageous — Move Forward Passionately

Boldly going where no one has gone before is becoming more and more common, thanks to technological advances. The Artemis Moon mission could pave the way for humankind to live and work on the Moon. The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) was designed to study whether hitting an asteroid could alter its orbit enough to protect Earth, should the need ever arise. The James Webb Space Telescope is transforming our understanding of the universe. All of these missions and more use Ansys solutions to make sure they get it right the first time, because there are rarely any second chances in space.

Engineers used Ansys Systems Tool Kit (STK) and Ansys Orbit Determination Tool Kit (ODTK) to model the James Webb Space Telescope’s orbit. Ansys Mechanical and Ansys Zemax were used to simulate the telescope’s large mirrors.

Be Generous — Share, Listen, Serve

Ansys supports the wider engineering community in many ways. Here are just a sample:

  • Our employees share their time and expertise via the Girls Who Code program. In addition to making donations, Ansys is sponsoring the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program (SIP) to encourage girls and nonbinary individuals to enter science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and learn how to code.
  • Ansys supports mentoring, both for our employees and via outside programs, such as the American Corporate Partners (ACP) mentoring program for veterans and active-duty spouses; Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha’s Cummins College of Engineering for Women (the first all-women engineering college in India); Young Men and Women In Charge Foundation, Inc., which increases workforce diversity by preparing underserved youth for STEM careers; and the Society of Women Engineers mentoring network.
  • We donate to organizations that support LGBTQ+ initiatives, such as the Croatian charity Lesbian Organization Rijeka (LORI) and Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (oSTEM).
  • The Ansys Academic program provides free simulation engineering software licenses to teachers and students, as well as free courses, a support community, and a wealth of student-focused tutorials. At last count, we had provided more than 2.6 million free student downloads and supported more than 500 student teams. Ansys also runs a robust intern and co-op program.

In addition to numerous corporate donations, Ansys employees use their volunteer time off to share their time and talents with local charities of their choice.

Through our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), we reinforce our values of inclusion, belonging, and innovation. Our ERGs are self-organized, fully inclusive networks that enable our employees to make a big impact. Employees with common backgrounds and experiences connect in support of organizational change, to inform our business, and learn from one another. Each of our ERGs have executive sponsors who listen to the needs of the group, advocate on behalf of the ERG, strategize, and direct resources.
