Teaching Package: Medical Devices
This package includes a set of teaching resources which can be used alongside the Medical Devices Datatable in the Bioengineering Level 2 and 3 databases in Ansys Granta EduPack™, a set of teaching resources to support materials education. The goal of this teaching package is to introduce materials and their biomedical applications. With over 50 generic medical devices from the orthopedic, cardiovascular, and dental biological systems, these resources have been designed to explore the links between real-life products and the materials which have been used to make them, as well as the regulations that impinge on them.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand what is meant by a ‘medical device’ and what information is available in Ansys Granta EduPack.
- Ability to select materials for biomedical engineering applications, giving real life examples
- Awareness of different types of medical devices and general regulations that govern them.
