How sustainable is my phone? Exploring the Fairphone’s modular design concept
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) devices and services account for around 20% of global energy consumption, with smartphones dominating other technologies in terms of GHG emissions. In this case study, we look deeper into the concept of more sustainable mobile devices by analysing a Bill of Materials for Fairphone proxy, using the Ansys Granta EduPack™ set of teaching resources to support materials education and its EcoAudit Tool.
